A common question is "How are the CloudScope visuals licensed? Are licenses required for each user viewing a report or for each report designer?"
Licenses for report designers are actually free. There is no license required when using the controls in the Power BI Desktop, which is the application typically used by report designers to create reports and dashboards.
Licenses are only required once the report is published to the Power BI cloud application or to other destinations (such as dedicated environments).
Once the report is published, an AppSource license is required for each user who is viewing the report. These licenses are economical, with typical licenses costing less than $0.10 per user per month, and less for larger organizations.
CloudScope does offer licenses on our website, primarily for environments not supported by AppSource, such as Publish to Web. These licenses are not per-user, but they cover the estimated user population. For example, the default license for Image available on CloudScope.io covers 100 internal users and unlimited users in Publish to Web settings.
